2024 SVR Elections

2024 Board Elections

Volunteers for Board of Directors Needed

By Collin Fat, Nominating Committee Chair

Elections for the slate of officers who will lead the club in 2024-2025 will open in November. Current board positions which are opening include president, vice president, treasurer, and secretary. The current social and membership chairs have decided to run for another term. Other board or committee chairpersons have currently committed to run for club president as well as vice president. All board positions are up for election and any member in good standing can run for any seat.

The club is an all-volunteer organization and depends on members to guide the direction and lead the club. An effective board consists of members who are knowledgeable about club activities and may have served on other non-profit boards. For over 55 years the club has been extremely successful in finding qualified members to serve on the board and the 2024 election is no less significant. Each board position term is for two- years and each board member can serve no more than two consecutive terms.

The 2024 nominating committee has been formed and consists of members in good standing. I have been appointed by the board as its chairperson. Serving on the committee are Jody Rosner, Dick Mac Farlane and Gail Hawk. Over the next several months, the committee will be working on finding capable candidates as well as interviewing those who have expressed an interest and have decided to run for office.

I hear many members that I have approached about board service complain about not having the time or being too busy. You need not be retired to serve! Many current board members are still in the workforce and continue to serve the club. The club is one of the most active Porsche Clubs in Zone 7 and it does not happen automatically. It takes a dedicated and knowledgeable board to organize the events which our members enjoy. From our popular tours and monthly dinner events to our autocross program, SVR members enjoy a variety of activities that are unparalleled for most car clubs.

A non-profit board of directors is only as successful and effective as it’s board members. It is not easy to assemble a group of people who not only work well together, but also have the right mix of skills, club experience and passion.
