Concours

Concours d’ Elegance is a French term that means a competition of elegance and refers to an event where prestigious vehicles are displayed and judged.  In simple terms, a Concours is a car show. The idea is to show your car in its most perfect condition.

There are different levels or types of Concours.  In the first, the principle objective is to show the car in its most perfect condition (usually cleanliness and like new condition, but originality may play a role in some Concours).  The idea is that every car starts out perfect and as the judge finds something amiss he/she deducts points.

On the other end of the spectrum is the “Display Only” category if you simply want to participate in the car show. The cars are there just to be displayed and may result in a People’s Choice Award or some other special recognition.

Each year SVR hosts a Concours that is part of the annual Zone 7 Concours Series.  The Zone 7 series consists of 7 to 9 Concours’ put on by the different regions in the Zone.  Points awarded at each of the Regions Concours are accumulated to determine the Zone level annual winners in each category.
