2025 Lady Drivers Tour

By Sharon Castle Rogers

On Saturday, September 27, the Sacramento Valley Region had its first Lady Drivers Tour.  It takes a team to put on an event and a BIG Thank You goes out to our leads and sweeps: Secretary Tina Talamantes, Rick Duste’s daughter, Michelle Wing, and Kelley Murphy.   I was privileged to be the tour meister and lead of the first group out.

I have had some experience with the Golden Gate and Redwood Regions, but this was my first time conducting a Lady Drivers Tour by myself.  So yes, I was a bit nervous and with the help of the team we had a fun time

We met up at El Dorado Town Center and headed toward Pioner Park in Sommerset for our restroom break.  A big shout out to the El Dorado County Recreation Department for giving us the key in advance so we could open the community center to use their awesome restrooms.   Next, we headed down through Plymouth before skirting Ione on our way to Rancho Murietta.  On the leg heading north towards Folsom, we stumbled across an unfortunate head-on accident that had Michigan Bar/Ione Rd closed.  Fortunately for us, with help from Rick Duste navigating for his daughter driving his red Carrera, we backtracked and added an additional 20 miles to the drive circumnavigating the incident.   In the end, we had an absolutely fabulous run followed by a great lunch at BJ’s Brew House in Folsom.

We learned a lot from our first SVR Ladies Tour that can be applied to our 2026 Ladies Tour.  So get ready ladies to experience the joy of driving a Porsche on the backroads of our Sacramento Valley Region again.
