Rain in the forecast but no rain makes for little traffic and a great drive. That’s the advantage to these overcast, light drizzle type days resulting in wide open roads, dry for the most part, and just the locals on the road. Two spirited groups led the way followed by a combined group 3 and 4 non-spirited group down White Rock Rd before turning south on Prairie City and Scott Roads. At Rancho Murietta we turned east to join Ione/Michigan Bar Road passing the 1894 Preston Castle (boys reform school until 1960) entering Ione. A quick loop on Jackson Valley Road (passing Lake Amador) took us back to CA 88 and on to the Walmart just before Jackson for the restroom break. Rejoining CA 88 we swung through Jackson, past the Rancheria Casino and then turned back west on Climax Rd (fitting name for driving your Porsche). We passed through downtown Sutter Creek, Amador City and Dry Creek, all decked out for Halloween and Thanksgiving, before navigating the Plymouth roundabout enroute to Andis Winery just 3 miles up Shenandoah Rd. As always, a great lunch was provided by the winery (and thank them for their support of the SVR Charity Golf tournament), plenty of comradery and great socializing. Thanks to Wayne Magon, Carol Shae, and Linda Duste for the pics.
