Well, 2025 is pretty much in the record books. We had 85 member-participating events featuring some unique events, new venues, and successful growth in some of our core activities. And 2026 is shaping up to be equally exciting with 75 events already on the calendar, and more to come as we flush out the details.
2025 saw overnight driving tours returning to Lake Tahoe and San Simeon; the Octoberfest with 86 cars in seven run groups together with 239 members enjoyed the oompah band, beer and brats at Fowler Ranch Farm Brewery to celebrate PCA’s 70th anniversary; over 120 members joined together to watch the blockbuster F1 Movie featuring Brad Pitt at the Studio Movie Grill; responding to requests in the member survey two Tech Sessions were conducted at Porsche Sacramento featuring representatives from Pirelli and Tire Rack; Autocross tried out a new venue at the Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland with over 50 entries; TSD Rally’s proved popular enough that a fifth event was added mid-year and 25 cars entered both the final events; our first charity golf tournament supporting auto technician scholarships at Sierra College and ARC exceeded expectations providing over $12,000 to fund student scholarships; the new Outlaw class proved popular for the annual Zone 7 Concours; and the standing first Saturday of the month breakfast attracted large crowds. I know I’ve forgotten something, but all in all, a successful year for the Club.
2026 is sure to build on 2025’s successes. 75 events have already been scheduled, with many more being flushed out. Four Tech Sessions are scheduled between Porsche Rocklin’s and Sacramento’s facilities; McMahen’s overnight driving tour to Pacific Grove is back; a 240-mile all-day tour will run up to Quincy and back; our new Social Coordinator is hard at work establishing regular theme dinner events; and the 3-day 39th CRAB event is coming in April featuring driving tours, autocross events, TSD rally, Crabkhana low-speed fun event, all-you-can-eat crab and lobster dinner, beer n’ brats, CRAB style concours, Porsche themed paint n’ sip event, and really exciting keynote speakers and presentations. Keep watch in the weekly email BLASTs for the latest event announcements and details. September features PCA’s Treffen At Sea West Coast Wine Country Cruise from Vancouver to Los Angeles on Princess Cruise. It features special Porsche Club activities, socials, dinners and events hosted by the local PCA region in each port. Over 900 PCA members participated in the last Treffen cruise. A number of SVR members are going . . . you might consider it yourselves. Details are available on the PCA national website.
Myself, I will be pretty consumed with CRAB planning and facilitation through April, so I am asking for help planning a couple driving tours for the second half of the year. Tour planning happens months in advance so if you have any ideas for venues and routes for a typical half-day 80 ish-mile tour and are willing to do the leg work with some assistance, reach out to me and let’s talk. Shoot me a note at the following email: vicepresident@svr-pac.org.
Happy Holiday’s everyone.
