Wow, Labor Day has come and gone. Where has this year gone? We have a crowded calendar wrapping up our SVR activities and events season.

    New events – take note:

    • Tech Session #2 – Sept 9 – Evening event at Porsche Sacramento featuring information on tire technology. You asked for it in last year’s members survey and we delivered.
    • Lady Driver’s Tour – Sept 27 – Drive any model Porsche, including two door and four door models. Leave from El Dorado Town Center and go 85 miles ending at BJ’s Brew House in Folsom. But the driver must be a lady. Passenger can be man or woman.
    • Charity Golf Tournament – Oct 27 – Monday tournament generating funds for SVR scholarships to be provided to aspiring auto mechanics in local college training programs.
    • Autocross at NEW location in Wheatland – Nov 8 – Event at the Toyota Amphitheater just a short drive up CA 65 north of Lincoln. Never autocrossed? Come give it a try at this low-key event trying out the new location.

Oktoberfest – The Sept 13th Oktoberfest party celebrating PCA’s 70th Anniversary is sold out. Over 225 members have signed up to attend. ADVANCED REGISTRATION was required as the venue will only have enough food on hand based on the head count that we provide and attendance is limited based on facility size and on-site parking limits. Registered attendees will receive food and drink tickets when they sign-in at the event. German fare including brats and all the fixings and non-alcoholic drink are included free of charge courtesy of the sponsorship money provided each year by Porsche Rocklin and Porsche Sacramento and the advertising you see here in the Drifter and on the club website. A 4-piece German oopmah band will provide the appropriate atmosphere while you sample craft beers brewed on site (beer must be purchased).

The Sept 13th Driving Tour departure location has changed!  Due to a scheduling conflict at EDH Town Center the meet-up location is now DUTCH BROS PARKING LOT in Granite Bay.

    Legacy events are coming up:

    • Annual Mendocino Tour – Oct 31-Nov 2
    • Annual Planning Meeting – Nov 6th – Will be at the California Auto Museum this year due to the past location closing their business.

    Sponsors and Advertisers:

Each year SVR receives significant cash and in-kind sponsorship support from a variety of companies within our region. Their support is critical in funding SVR’s operations and enabling the Club’s many activities and events. Not all events break-even.

Autocross and the annual Zone Concours event are significantly subsidized by Porsche Rocklin and Porsche Sacramento. The entry fees do not cover all the costs and as such are subsidized. And in the case of Porsche Rocklin and Porsche Sacramento, not only is cash provided but for events like the Concours, Rally and Autocross schools, tech sessions and this year’s Christmas party, they bear the added expense of clearing out the facility for our use, resetting up again to do their business the next day, renting tables and chairs for our use, and sometimes providing food and beverages. The Oktoberfest event was funded through the combined sponsorship and advertising revenues. The Christmas party expense was (and will again this year) heavily subsidized allowing participates to pay approximately 50% of what the cost was to put on the event.

So, patronize our sponsors and advertisers and make sure to tell them you appreciate their support.
