July 4th Pocket Parade

This was the 15 consecutive years that SVR has participated in the annual Pocket 4th of July Parade. It is one of the longest running events of interest that the club has participated in over the years, and this year was no exception. With 15 cars in the line-up and some 30 members and cars ranging from Jody Rosner’s ’73 911T with historic plates to Wayne Okamoto’s 2016 Boxster Spyder. This year there were 3 PCA juniors in attendance which made for a wonderful family style event. There were thousands of Pocket area residents lining the parade route and some 3,000 pieces of candy handed out by the Porsche Club. It was amazing to hear the cheers and amazement of the crowd and their reaction to see a lineup of some of Porsche’s finest.

Robert Hrabak has chaired this event for the last 7 years and provided doughnuts for early arrivals. Following a brief driver’s meeting and a 1 -hour parade route, he organized a casual lunch gathering at the Freeport Grill and Bar, an iconic restaurant located in the Delta community of Freeport, Ca.
