72 Porsche 914 / 1.7L / Mileage 119,000

At age 20 on a 3-day pass from the military, I ventured into Competition Motors in Culver City Ca. and purchased my Adriatic Blue 914, spending “the most money I’ll ever spend on a car” in March 1972.

It has been a love affair for the past 53 years.  It is the only Porsche I own.

The car has taken me on 3 cross country trips & have seen the entire Southern US, the Bicentennial celebration of America along the entire East Coast, and have traveled to Canada to see the 1976 Olympics in Montreal driving the Trans Canadian Highway not to forget numerous western US excursions.

The car evolved from a daily driver to a weekend machine as the years went on and available time became scarce, but its always had a spot in my life.

I am most proud of the fact that today It is in original condition and holding up well.

With some encouragement from SVR members, this year the car was entered in the SVR Concours and I was extremely happy to have won first place in its category (unrestored).

Joining PCA last year has allowed me make new acquaintances who all share the passion of the Porsche, regardless of model or year.

Recently I have entertained adding another Porsche to the household- Possibly a 996/997 if the right one crosses my path.

We look forward to continuing the experience.
