  • Message from the VP – October

The club had a fantastic 2025, with 83 member-participating events. As we look ahead to another exciting year, now is the time we start planning the 2026 calendar. Driving tours continue to draw increasingly large registrations but with that comes new challenges. A bonus Autocross just 28 miles up the road from the Roseville Galleria Mall has been added in November.

The SVR Annual Event Calendar and Planning Meeting
will be Thursday November 6 at the California Auto Museum (CAM) in Sacramento from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Complimentary pizza and beverages will be provided as usual. The location used in previous years closed so we had to find a new location. Big thanks to CAM for agreeing to extend their hours to accommodate our group. We need to get a head count for ordering the food to be delivered so you will need to register to attend at https://msreg.com/Planning26

The purpose of this meeting is to bring together members to create/organize club events for the 2026 year. Examples from 2025 events organized at last year’s meeting include theme dinners like Valintine, Band, and Cinco de Mayo dinners, F1 Movie Night, Oktoberfest, Christmas dinner, wine tasting; baseball games, parades, etc. Tours, Rallies, Concours, Autocross, Tech Sessions, and new ideas are encouraged. And as a member driven volunteer organization, offering to organize all or part of events welcomed.

If you can’t attend the meeting but have an idea you want to put forward, contact vicepresident@svr-pca.org and we will bring it up on your behalf.

    Driving tours are “driving” events.
Recently after the last few driving tours I have been getting feedback that a number of cars are not keeping up with the pace of the group. By this I mean dropping back considerably from the cars in front and holding up cars behind. This can be frustrating to the car(s) as well as to the Lead who is trying to keep the group together. I realize that members have different comfort levels when it comes to the driving pace when on tours. And sometimes that may be influenced by whether you are driving solo or have a passenger on that day. When registering we ask if you want to be in the most spirited driving group or not to try our best to pair you up with similar paced cars. But we need to remember: These are “driving” events, not scenic tours (unless titled as such); we are driving sports cars, not normal everyday passenger cars; and tours are designed to drive as a group – which means we need to follow closely behind one another in order to maintain a group.

Bonus Autocross at Live Nation Toyota Amphitheatre in Wheatland Saturday November 8.
Rain or shine. Come out and give it a try. This will be the site of the CRAB 39 autocross. More of a technical course than a high-speed course. Newbies encouraged to try it out.
